Depression: A Call to Discover The Hidden Treasure

image

Depression is still a mystery to some psychologist and psychiatrist.  Medicines can only work on symptoms but not the root cause.  Talk therapy may sometimes even worsen the situation.  Since each individual is unique, the journey towards getting out of state of emptiness is also unique in each one.  It is a call to take the road to know oneself, the discover the art with which God has fashioned you and respecting it. It is a journey to find out who you realy are: the hereditary patterns; what activities that will work to balance those given hormones; whatvto avoid & what to purue; what habitual thought that need to be fed in order to boost self-esteem; what lifestyle to take in order to be animated again; and what risk to take so as not to perish.  It is a tough series of trial and error in life but also an opportunity. A quest to dig the hidden treasures that God has burried into your being.  My recovery is is literally in Einstein’s words “Life is like a bicycle, we have to keep on moving in order to keep your balance.”  In my case, it was literaly balancing a bicycle on tough challenging roads. 😉

P.S.
1. pending to write about my biking adventure
2. It takes courage in Philippines to expose that has one suffered from clinical depression. To this date many of my countrymen still consider it as a shameful thing. Many cannot distinguish the difference of weakening or fatigued mental state from a destructive nental problem . But I took the courage to reveal it to hopefully help depressed people who may have chance upon reading my blog. Besides for me, surviving it was a wonderful opportunity to discover the art with which God has fashioned me.
